What is the Supercritical 'Whole Herb' Difference?
Supercritical extraction uses environmentally-friendly carbon dioxide (the stuff that puts the bubbles in sparkling water) to extract the greatest concentration of an herb's natural phytonutrients. Sometimes we use as much as 250 pounds of fresh herb to create just one pound of extract. Our formulas actually smell pleasant or sweet, like culinary spices or the original, fresh herb. That's because supercritical extraction is a low-temperature process which retains and concentrates the broad-spectrum benefits of the fresh herb. This process protects the essential oils and sensitive nutrients often destroyed by conventional extraction methods, and does not require adding any chemicals to the herbs.
Traditional extraction, and even supercritical extraction, creates potent concentrates, but leaves some of the whole herb behind. We thought this was unfortunate, as mother nature knew what she was doing when she created these herbs, so we worked on overcoming this limitation. Our patent-pending process allows us to combine the supercritical and the post supercritical (or water soluble) extracts with the natural, unprocessed herb.
The end result is a potent, solvent-free, exceptionally effective holistic supplement. Simply stated, our vegan formulas offer the targeted potency of an herbal extract, along with the holistic value of the whole herb, in a simple, easy to take capsule.
Quality Control
Our quality begins with selection. Our cultivated herbs are grown under the strict guidance of Dr. Phadke, who in addition to being an Ayurvedic Physician, is also a life-long student of botany. We purchase direct from the farmers, supporting fair trade, organic processing and sustainability.
Each lot of herbs is independently analyzed for possible contaminants, including heavy metals, pesticides and pathogenic microbes. Only the purest herbs get through our rigorous testing process.
After obtaining the highest quality, most potent herbs from India, we complete the manufacturing and quality control process in the U.S. under strict NNFA and FDA current good manufacturing practices.
Supercritical Spectrum
Diagram 1 shows a conventional neem leaf alcohol extract verses our supercritical neem leaf extract. Each group of peaks represents beneficial phytonutrients. The Supercritical spectrum detected a much broader range of peaks at higher concentrations than the conventional extract, even though it was at 1/10th the concentration! Diagram 2 offers a general representation of the range of nutrients that typical extracts capture. Clearly, the Supercritical CO2 extracts capture a much broader range than conventional extracts. The beneficial polar, or water-soluble, nutrients are obtained by our 'post' supercritical extraction, which is then combined with the whole herb to give our exclusive 'Whole Herb' Supercritical Extracts.
