In 1997, I met a man at a lab auction who asked if I could make him a natural shampoo with neem oil. “Sure,” I said. "By the way, what's neem?"

Although I didn't know it at the time, my life was about to change! I was fresh out of school, working as a cosmetic chemist for a natural products company, soaking it all up like a sponge. It was fun -I was learning to formulate and run large-scale production, working with a really sharp botanist who was helping me to discover the healing power of herbs. At the time, if you had asked me to make you a shampoo with jojoba or tea tree, I could have run into the lab and come out a few hours later with a pretty decent product. But not with neem! Neem has some very complex components, and it took the better of six months to come up with a great formula. By then, Mr. Lab Man was nowhere to be found... and I was in love with the little known Neem tree and the power of the herbal tradition.

Obviously, I no longer work for that other natural products company. Years have passed, and we now offer an ever growing line of over 40 TheraNeem® products plus and thousands of customers around the world devoted to them. For over 4,000 years, neem also known as “the village pharmacy” has been providing healthy, safe and therapeutic solutions for people, pets, plants and the planet. The United Nations declared neem the tree of the 21st century for its multi-faceted benefits and neem is currently cultivated in over 80 countries. Our TheraNeem Naturals products are made with certified organic neem leaf and certified organic or ethically wildcrafted neem oil. Sourcing is very important to me, and for this reason, we do not buy from brokers - instead we purchase all neem raw materials directly from the farm suppliers in India … which leads to the TheraVeda® product line in 2005, when I traveled to India to inspect our neem supply and seized the opportunity to co-create TheraVeda herbal dietary supplements with my collogues at Nisarga Biotech in India.

TheraVeda® and now Naked Organix® are our companion product lines to TheraNeem Naturals. TheraVeda® merges my respect for traditional herbal knowledge with modern technology by combining concentrated organic supercritical (SCO2) extracts and the wisdom of whole herb extracts. For over 12 years, we have been known as the go-to company for organic and therapeutic neem products for the whole family. The creation of TheraVeda was a natural extension of my love of neem and my respect for the Eastern herbal tradition, also known as Ayurveda. I wanted others to experience this rich tradition and to be able to successfully and cost-effectively self care herbs like neem, turmeric, ashwagandha and more. These invaluable botanical friends have been used for over 4,000 years to increase the health and well-being for millions of individuals.

By offering TheraVeda herbal dietary supplements in the USA, I knew that I could encourage more individuals to support their well-being with time-tested herbs from the inside out with TheraVeda and from the outside in with TheraNeem. But the story does not end here… as I continued to enrich myself in the study of the “science of life” also known as Ayurveda, I learned that one of the primary paths to promote health and longevity is through daily applications of nourishing fatty oils and butters. Yep, being oily helps you to stay young! In 2011 we launched the highly successful and therapeutic Naked Organix® line of body butter and soaps. The Naked Organix line utilizes many of the most respected and restorative botanicals from around the globe to feed your skin from the outside in and promotes the practice of daily oilinaiton therapy. This tradition of daily oiling or “buttering” of the body helps to slow the signs of aging while promoting radiant and nourished skin.

DID YOU KNOW? In many cultures across the globe it is a common practice to apply a body butter or oil after bathing to help protect and nourish your skin. This practice of massaging or rubbing the butter into your skin not only increases circulation, but leaves the skin feeling softer, more supple & radiant.

Oil the tin person! Simple analogy: as we age, we oxidize which means we get dryer, stiffer and creakier. What do you do when your tin man oxidizes (or rusts) and gets dry, stiff or creaky? – you oil/butter him/her! Slow the signs of aging- add oil from inside & out!

I hope you enjoy my stories and the path I have taken to bring these products to a larger audience. I've sure enjoyed developing these therapeutic products, working with a great group of people and being in this fantastic industry.
