Stress Buster – TheraVeda® Stress Ease: Pure, Powerful & Organic

TheraVeda® Sleep Ease and Stress Ease formulas may be used separately or together, with your individual response to them setting the rule for when they should be used. Many individuals who struggle with sleep issues find that taking adaptogens, like Ashwagandha and Shatavari, during the day can be an effective preventive action that prepares their body for sleep at night. These formulas may be used for 3-6 months continuously (taking one week off per month).

Stress Ease:

Stress Ease contains highly concentrated extracts of two herbs recognized as powerful adaptogens:

Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera) and Shatavari (Asparagus racemosus). “Adaptogens” is the name for a category of herbs that specifically help the human body adapt to emotional, physical, biological or environmental stressors. As adaptogens, these remarkable herbs react to your body’s needs, increasing strength and stamina during the day but also helping you to stay calm and focused so you sleep better at night.

Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera), Plant part used: Root

Primary actions: Adaptogen, helps fortify physical and emotional balance, increases energy and stamina and strengthens immune and nervous systems, anabolic (building). Key words: Heating, adaptogen, strengthening, calming, nourishing/building, supports the body’s ability to respond to inflammation, antioxidant.

This warming root is sometimes known as “smells like horse” for its strengthening benefits (like that of a stallion) for the immune and reproductive systems for men and women. It is classified as an adaptogen, and has the unique quality of building and tonifying the body while simultaneously calming and mildly sedating the nervous system. Ashwagandha is renowned for its immune system enhancing properties, especially for people who tire easily or are weakened and feel “depleted” by daily or occasional stressors and lack of activity. It supports healthy connective tissue and the body’s ability to respond to inflammation. The diversity of Ashwagandha’s benefits make it a perfect herb to support the body’s ability to adapt to stressors, strengthen, increase stamina & memory, enrich freedom of movement and experience energy, vitality and increased libido. Ashwagandha is an herb that is best used by many for 3-6 months to fortify the body. It is an herb that is well tolerated as food. TheraVeda Stress Ease capsules can be opened and sprinkled on food or added to a favorite treat.

Contraindications/safety: Use caution for those with extreme “heat” (Pitta) in their constitution. Theoretical interactions between Ashwagandha and immunosuppressant, thyroid and some sedative medications have been reported. Ashwagandha may have some hypoglycemic activity in humans; it is wise to monitor blood glucose levels for those individuals who are susceptible. Speculative: May potentiate the effects of barbiturates (Atal and Schwarting, 1961). Avoid this plant if sensitive to plants in the nightshade family, and do not use internally if you have hemochromatosis (excess iron). Avoid with hyperthyroidism, (Adaptogens,David Winston 2007). As with all herbs during pregnancy and lactation, consult a healthcare professional prior to use. It should not be use if one is sick (cold or flu), as it is a tonifying and building herb which is contraindicated during viral illnesses. No known drug-herb interactions.

Shatavari or Wild asparagus (Asparagus racemosus), Plant part used: Root

Primary actions: Adaptogen, helps enhance the body’s response to stress, cools and calms the mind, fortifies the reproductive system, relieves cramping and bloating, traditionally used as a fertility tonic for men and women. Key words: Cooling, soothing, adaptogen, tonic for the nervous and reproductive systems, building and strengthening. This sweet and cooling root native to India is sometimes fondly referred to as “she who possesses 100 husbands.” The racy name infers its qualities as a fertility tonic for men and women, as well as its ability to enhance patience and calmness. Its name also relates to its botanical identity due to the abundant amount of roots that are commonly found when the root is dug up. “Shat” means 100 and “Avari,” underneath. It is classified as a cooling, adaptogen and tonic herb. It contains nervine properties to calm and balance the nervous system. Supporting the nervous system is beneficial with symptoms of stress, occasional anxiety, PMS, and for conditions that can be described as “red, hot or easily irritated.” Shatavari lends “cool” nourishment to stabilize or help to “root” the nervous, immune and reproductive systems. In our Stress Ease formula, it plays the invaluable role of helping to create harmony in the nervous system and fortifying the immune system which is often depleted by stress. Shatavari is commonly used to balance menstrual flow and alleviate irregularity of both moods and menses cycles. It is also known to increase breast milk flow (a galactogogue), and for its benefits to promote regular healthy menstruation in women and sperm count for men.
Contraindications/safety: Use with caution in cases of acute lung congestion or with high congestion in the body (Kapha), (Pole, 2006). Those with diarrhea and abdominal bloating may want to avoid Shatavari, or mix it with a warming herb like ginger,( Winston 2007). As with all herbs during pregnancy and lactation, consult a healthcare professional prior to use. It should not be use if one is sick (cold or flu), as it is a tonifying and building herb which is contraindicated during viral illnesses. No known drug-herb interactions. Potential: Prevents aspirin induced stomach irritation, and diarrhea caused by taking cisplatin, (Winston 2007). Shatavari may increase urine flow, yet it is also soothing (demulcent).

As with any dietary supplement, consult a healthcare professional prior to using them. Use with particular caution if you are taking other medications to help cope with stress, anxiety or insomnia.

These two formulas use ancient Ayurvedic herbs delivered in an innovative patent-pending technology that combines powerful supercritical carbon dioxide (fat soluble) extracts with hydrophilic (water soluble) extracts that are then bound back to the whole herb. Both formulas are designed to be fast-acting so that most people will experience results within 15 to 30 minutes.
